
No doubt that the social networks take a considerable amount of percentage in reference to the overall time people spend in front of a computer. Whether in the office, at university or at home, people always find time log on to their social networks like Twitter and check some photos and update status on Facebook or by watching videos on YouTube. It has been confirmed that nearly 80% of Internet users use social networks on a regular basis to be in touch with family and friends and shared in real time other information, comments or opinions.
The market research firm Nielsen explained this study further. According to Nielsen, 22% of the time spent on the Internet in a month falls under the social networks category which is equivalent to 110 billion minutes online. The company also claims that this is the first time that three quarters of users around the world use the social networks to communicate with friends or to read blogs.
The most popular and most visited social networks are led by Facebook and YouTube. And with Facebook network's nearly 500 million registered users means spending an average of six hours, while YouTube recently recorded an average of 13 billion videos being viewed in a month.
