Last year, Yahoo released Meme, an API microblogging service that looks more of like Twitter with a dog theme instead of a bird. The platform is made using Yahoo Query Language (YQL) which will be perfect in building a mobile version for smartphones.
And just yesterday, news has it that Yahoo already acquired a new domain name for Meme. Me.me is the new domain for accessing the Yahoo microblogging site. As of now, Yahoo is trying every effort to make the application popular just like how Twitter and Facebook are performing in the world of social media nowadays.
In fact, the new domain serves as an important component for Yahoo's online branding technique, as described by Yahoo's product development and engineering director, Antonio Silveira.
Could Meme be the next alternative to Twitter? I am sure individuals, especially advertisers and business owners are starting to get curious about this service. Well, time will only tell if this new addition to the microblogging sites will become a social media madness.

Twitter is now starting to line up with the biggest and fastest growing business platforms. The issue on how it can make money that has long been running since it was launched on 2006 is now being given enlightenment as Twitter officially announced that it will be releasing an advertising platform program called "Promoted Tweets".
Initially, these promoted tweets will appear in the search results section every time a user search on a particular brand or trend related to the advertiser. These ads will later on appear in the timeline in which users can re-tweet and reply to the advertisement.
Twitter's Chief Operating Officer Dick Costolo said that they want to improve the manner of communication of companies to their customers on Twitter. The company will be focusing this year on the development and enhancement of this program and not yet on the profit goal.
Promoted Tweets gives companies the chance to engage with their customers and can enter into the picture when the thread goes negative.
This is a sweet opportunity for advertisers since they will be able to opt-in to this program, pay for tweets and benefit through revenue-sharing.
