If you think advertising is only something that adults have to learn, well think again. The Federal Trade Commission believes that even the kids need to learn and understand how advertising works so they will be educated about certain information for them to become smarter consumers in the future.
The Internet has become a community for people to keep in touch, purchase, ask, and basically everything you can think of. As a one big community, a huge percentage of it covers the younger generations or kids of minor age. Advertisers and marketers admit that these days, most of their consumers online fall under the children category.
And because advertising is almost becoming synonymous to the World Wide Web, the Federal Trade Commission launched a campaign that will educate the youth about what advertising is. The website is called Admongo.gov, an online application that targets children ages 8 to 12 to keep them informed about the ads that they see all over, how they work, why are they created, etc.
Advertising is something to be taken seriously even to kids. It is a very essential tool in the Internet world because it is one way to keep people informed about certain products and services they wish to purchase. With that, a consumer has to determine appropriately whether a certain advertisement is truthful or misleading in order to arrive at the best decision.
So to advertisers and marketers, better consider the younger audience in generating and designing your next ad campaigns.
