It is now confirmed that Hewlett-Packard (HP) will be acquiring Palm, Inc. This ultimate agreement was announced today by both companies.

According to the news release that was published on HP's official website, Palm will be purchased at a price of approximately $1.2 billion at $5.70 per share of common stock.

Over the past two years, Palm has been struggling to surpass the controversy about its predicted downfall. Many analysts have claimed that Palm alone will sooner or later lose its worth because of the fast deterioration of it's share value. In fact, in October 2009, Palm's cost per share was about $17.46 and from then, it came down to about $13.41 just last January. This has been a constant trend to Palm over the past few years.

And now, seems like it has acquired a new life support through HP. HP is seeing a great potential to Palm especially to its webOS and they are planning to push through with the innovation of the operating system to widen HP's mobile technology and capability in line with the world's leading mobile and smartphone providers.

The transaction between the companies is expected to be finalized by the latter part of the year.

This new venture by HP and Palm would mean good news to the advertising world, especially to companies and businesses online. People will have a new alternative source of mobile communication device which will contribute to the percentage increase in the growing number of time spent by people surfing the Internet.
