Yahoo! Japan has acquired Cirius, a well-known enterprise under mobile advertising and is the company behind the ad network for mobile AdLocal.

The advertising company which kicked off in the United States last year, lets advertisers to target their ads based on the physical locality of the mobile phone users with the use of GPS, map coordinates and cellular identifications. In Japan, the company which is now six years old, says its ad policy has taken spots among various categories of local business advertisers.

Yahoo! has a 35% stake in its subsidiary in Japan. Financial terms of the contract were not unveiled but it was announced that its satellite office in California, along with their staff will be transferred to the main operations center in Japan since one of its goals is to increase its reputation in Japan with the help of AdLocal's credibility to approximately one billion mobile consumers in the country.

Japan has long started this trend of using marketing strategies using location based tools which without a doubt contributes a big impact in the Japanese market trend. The United States is also dedicating research and studies to adapt this kind of trend so as to introduce a new media in the advertising world.
